Queens of Country Info

Pitchfork posted an article about the upcoming movie starring Lizzy Caplan, Ron Livingston, and Maynard James Keenan.
Last year, Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock re-ignited his side project Ugly Casanova to contribute songs to the documentary 180° South. A year later, he's on his making-music-for-movies grind again. Brock will compose the score for the upcoming feature film Queens of Country, written and directed by Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke (Blood Into Wine, The Heart Is a Drum Machine) and starring Lizzy Caplan (of the late, beloved TV series "Party Down"), Ron Livingston (Office Space), and (wait for it) Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan.

According to a press release, the plot of Queens of Country revolves around "Caplan's character Jolene and a lost iPod, which the obsessed country music fan is convinced belongs to her soul mate. Jolene quickly finds herself in a hilarious adventure of mistaken identities, line dancing competitions, time machines and doppelgangers." So yeah, your typical lost-iPod-time-machine-country-music-rom-com flick, sounds like. And they say the film industry's run out of ideas!

The movie, as well as Brock's score, is slated for a 2012 release. Watch a video of Ugly Casanova performing the 180° South contribution "Here's to Now" below while you continue to wonder whether Modest Mouse will ever make another album.

First Single, "Man Overboard" Available on July 19th

The Puscifer newsletter was sent out today and includes more details on the new album, "Conditions of My Parole."

PUSCIFER'S NEW ALBUM, CONDITIONS OF MY PAROLE, AVAILABLE OCT. 18

"The Verde Valley is an intrinsic part of what Puscifer is. It’s equal parts Twilight Zone, Mayberry and Road Warrior. The ghosts and aliens, Republicans and Democrats, cowboys and artists living side by side with hostile creatures such as scorpions, spiders, rattlesnakes, javelina and hippies are just a few of the spicy ingredients that give Conditions of My Parole its unique flavor." - Maynard James Keenan

"Man Overboard," the first single from the album, will be available via iTunes and other digital service providers on July 19.

Conditions of My Parole was recorded in Jerome, Ariz. this spring with tracking done amidst the wine barrels from Keenan's Caduceus Cellars. The album was produced by Keenan, Mat Mitchell, and Josh Eustis. Contributing musicians for the new album include the aforementioned Keenan, Mitchell, and Eustis as well as Carina Round, Juliette Commagere, Matt McJunkins, Jeff Freidl, Gil and Rani Sharone, Jonny Polonsky, Tim Alexander, Devo Keenan, Alessandro Cortini, Sarah Jones, and Jon Theodore.

A North American tour kicks off in early November with more information to come.
